Eco Design Library® is a provider of innovative and ecological furnishing concepts.
The idea behind this term is to collect various products that are designed from the outset to be sustainable and environmentally friendly. The terms sustainability and environmental friendliness are more than just buzzwords for us.
For example, in many cases we use materials from Germany, which are processed by regional producers as far as possible.
This keeps transport routes short and saves valuable energy. It is also important to us that the energy required to manufacture our products comes from renewable sources.
EDL products are designed for a long service life. And when the end of the product's service life is reached, most parts can be recycled by type. Composite materials are only used in exceptional cases.
What does sustainability mean to Eco Design Library®?
In our view, sustainability is first and foremost characterised by the fact that a product can be used over a very long period of time.
This means, for example:
- The product can be adapted and expanded to meet changing requirements
- Damage can be repaired
- Materials are selected so that they are available for as long as possible
- As many standards as possible are adhered to so that the products can also be combined and used with other products.
- The design and choice of colours are as timeless as possible.
What does eco-friendly mean to Eco Design Library®?
Environmentally friendly means much more than just not being harmful to the environment. From our point of view, everything that does not generate "value" should be avoided.
This means designing production processes in such a way that
- minimise transport routes
- as little waste as possible is produced
- any waste produced is recycled
- the energy required isCO2 neutral
- packaging is consistently reduced and dispensed with where possible
- only materials are used that have the least possible impact on the environment during production and can be recycled
- materials and services are sourced as regionally as possible
- galvanised surfaces are only used if this is technically unavoidable
- composite materials are avoided wherever possible in order to achieve a high recycling rate
What does transparency mean for Eco Design Library®?
Transparency means that all materials and manufacturing processes used, including the countries of origin, are disclosed for each product.
